Fifth grader Nick Allen is a good
student. At the same time, he is known for his streak of mischief. He's
gifted at getting teachers side-tracked, thereby getting he and his
classmates out of work. But the 5th grade Language Arts teacher has a
reputation too: she knows all the tricks students try to pull, and there
is no nonsense in her classroom. Nick has other plans, however, and
after a class lesson about words, he decides to invent a new one and see
how his teacher likes it. Then things go a little further then he had
intended.
Definitely a
cute story! I chuckled out loud a couple times. A very fun premise,
too! Word origins have actually intrigued me, and I think it's funny
that we have seen the creation of new words in our lifetimes, like
texting and Instagram and Facebook!
