Fatal Voyage -- Kathy Reichs

When a plane crashes in the mountains near North Carolina, Temperance Brennan is called in as part of the DMORT team which is tasked with recovering the bodies, the wreckage, and piecing together the last moments of the flight to determine the cause of the disaster. With body parts strewn over several miles, it does not seem odd when Temperance -- along with the help of some coyotes, finds a severed foot quite a distance from the center of the search.

But that foot throws kinks into many aspects of the investigation and makes someone nervous enough that Temperance is slandered publicly and removed from her involvement with the crash investigation.

Determined to clear her good name, Temperance does not give up. But the more she digs, the more disturbing things start rising to the surface. Some of her associates are even killed; and Temperance is next on the list.


**Once the story got going, it was a decent read. However, it takes so long to get into the story (for me at least) that I become disillusioned with the whole thing and just can't wait to be done with the book, thereby diminishing my enjoyment of the story.

Deadly Decisions -- Kathy Reichs

In this third installment of the Temperance Brennan series, Tempe finds herself called back to Canada earlier than planned to help identify the remains of two Outlaw Motorcycle Club members -- the latest victims of the violent turf war going on between such clubs. The death toll quickly rises as retaliation is sought, and before long, innocent people are being caught in the crossfire, hurling Tempe into a vicious and convoluted mystery that leads her to South Carolina and back again as the bodies keep piling up.

Meanwhile her personal life becomes just as convoluted as her relationship with Andrew Ryan takes a shocking turn when he is arrested for dealing drugs; and then her nephew shows up and begins showing an unsettling interest in biker clubs. As Tempe races to find the people responsible before more innocent victimes pay the ultimate price, she finds her own life in danger and only escapes with the help from a surprising source.

Death du Jour -- Kathy Reichs

In Canada for a brief two weeks in part to do a favor for a Catholic church there by indentifying the bones of a nun who is being considered for sainthood, Temperance Brennan anticipates a quick open-and-shut case and a return to North Carolina on schedule. What she gets instead is involvement in brutal and seemingly senseless murders that cross two countries, two states, and touch entirely too close to home for her own comfort.

The morning after retrieving the bones of the nun, Tempe is called out by Andrew Ryan, the handsome detective, to attend a crime scene where a massive fire had burned the night before. In the burned home, a total of seven victims are found: one elderly lady, four adults, and two infants. As Tempe and Ryan work to uncover the reason for the brutal murders, they find connections to other murders in the area. Meanwhile, one of the nuns at the church calls on Tempe to help her find her missing niece, which leads Tempe to a professor at McGill University. Before long, it becomes apparent that a cult may be involved with the murders in the burned home -- and possibly even the disappearance of the nun's niece. More horrifying for Temperance is that her own sister may be unwittingly involved with the same cult.

Together Ryan and Tempe track down lead after lead in an attempt to get at the truth. But can they find the person behind the murders before it is too late for Tempe's sister Harry?
